Motorhome TPMS

Driving a motorhome or campervan offers freedom, but it also brings added responsibility—particularly when it comes to safety and tyre performance. At TyrePal, we specialise in tyre pressure monitoring systems (TPMS), which includes motorhomes, campervans, and leisure vehicles. Our solutions offer accurate readings, early warnings, and peace of mind on every journey.

The importance of tyre safety in motorhomes cannot be overstated. Heavier vehicles, longer braking distances, and long hours on the road increase the risks associated with tyre underinflation, overheating, or punctures. A TPMS for motorhomes is not just a convenience—it’s a crucial component of vehicle safety and efficiency.

Why TPMS Is Important for Motorhomes

Motorhomes are particularly susceptible to changes in tyre pressure and temperature due to their weight distribution, payload fluctuations, and long-distance travel. Traditional visual checks may overlook slow leaks or pressure imbalances, and a tyre that looks fine externally can still be dangerously underinflated.

Using a TPMS allows drivers to receive real-time updates on each tyre’s pressure and temperature, offering early warnings before problems escalate. TyrePal systems alert drivers to high temperatures, rapid deflation, and pressure changes that could compromise control or lead to a blowout. These insights are especially valuable when descending steep roads, driving in high temperatures, or loading your vehicle for extended trips.

Benefits of Using TyrePal TPMS on Motorhomes and Campervans

Investing in a tyre pressure monitoring system is a practical decision for motorhome owners. The Solar Colour Pro from TyrePal offers several clear advantages, especially during long-distance travel or when carrying significant loads. Below are the key benefits of fitting a TPMS to your motorhome or campervan.

Early Detection of Tyre Problems

Tyre issues such as slow punctures, overinflation, or overheating can develop without noticeable symptoms until it’s too late. A TPMS provides constant surveillance of pressure and temperature, giving early warnings if a tyre is losing air or heating beyond normal limits. This can help prevent dangerous blowouts or sidewall damage, particularly on motorway journeys or steep inclines.

Improved Fuel Efficiency

When tyres are underinflated, rolling resistance increases. This forces the engine to work harder, which leads to higher fuel consumption. A TPMS helps maintain correct tyre pressure, making it easier for the engine to operate efficiently. Even a modest drop in pressure can increase fuel usage, so keeping tyres within the recommended range can have a noticeable impact on fuel costs over time.

Extended Tyre Life

Tyres that are incorrectly inflated—whether too low or too high—tend to wear unevenly. This shortens the lifespan of the tyre and may lead to the need for premature replacements. Monitoring pressure levels with a TPMS means tyres are kept at their optimal performance range, helping them wear evenly and last longer. This is particularly important for motorhomes, which often run on specialist tyres that are more costly to replace.

Reduced Risk of Downtime

A tyre failure on the road can delay travel plans and potentially result in costly call-out charges or missed campsite bookings. With a TPMS in place, many problems can be identified before the vehicle even moves. Alerts during the journey also allow the driver to pull over safely before a minor issue becomes a serious one, helping avoid breakdowns and unwanted disruption.

Increased Peace of Mind While Driving

Driving a larger vehicle like a motorhome can already be demanding, especially on unfamiliar routes or in adverse conditions. Knowing that all tyres are being actively monitored for pressure and temperature allows drivers to concentrate on the road, rather than worry about unseen mechanical issues developing underfoot. The confidence that comes from real-time monitoring is especially valuable on long journeys and during periods of heavy usage.

The Solar Colour Pro TPMS

Our featured system for motorhomes is the TyrePal Solar Colour Pro. It has been developed with motorhome users in mind, offering ease of installation, a clear colour display, and reliable real-time feedback. It comes supplied with four pre-registered TCSO external sensors, making it suitable for most motorhomes straight out of the box.

Key Features:

  • – Monitors between 4 to 7 tyres – suitable for twin rear wheels or including a spare.
  • – Measures pressures up to 99psi (6.8 Bar) – ideal for the higher load tyres typically found on motorhomes.
  • – Temperature readings up to 80ºC – helping to identify heat build-up before it causes damage.
  • – 7.0m maximum range – from sensor to monitor, ideal for most vehicle layouts.
  • – Solar PV panel – provides a top-up charge while you are travelling. A USB charging lead is also provided.

The Solar Colour Pro is especially valued by customers who travel across Europe or take long-distance journeys, where checking tyres at regular intervals may not always be practical. With the unit’s coloured alerts and audible warnings, changes in tyre pressure or temperature are spotted promptly.

External Sensors: Quick to Fit, Reliable in Use

Each Solar Colour Pro system includes TCSO external sensors that are pre-paired to the display unit. These are mounted onto your existing tyre valve stems, requiring no specialist tools or equipment. In most cases, fitting takes just a few minutes per wheel.

However, it’s essential to check the valve stems before installation. The minimum valve stem thread length required is 9.0mm. If your stems are shorter, valve stem extenders will be required to fit the sensors correctly. This helps maintain a secure fit and a reliable signal from each sensor.

External sensors are powered by replaceable CR1632 batteries, which typically last up to two years in regular use. Replacements are available directly from TyrePal or from approved stockists.

Installation and Compatibility

The Solar Colour Pro TPMS is designed with user convenience in mind. The pre-registered sensors mean there’s no complicated syncing process; simply attach the sensors to the tyres, and the monitor will begin displaying data.

Since the sensors are external, there is no need to remove or disassemble tyres, making the system suitable for a wide range of motorhomes and campervans. This approach also makes sensor maintenance simpler, as they can be easily removed for battery changes without tyre removal.

Ready to Travel with Confidence?
