Tyre Pressure News and Information: FAQs
Should I choose TA22 or TD series?
TA22 TA22 is optimised as a safety alert system that will quickly give warnings when things are going wrong, with a clear indication of the nature of the problem and which tyre is affected. It’s a ‘set and forget’ system that sits quietly in the background unless it is needed. There’s no continuous display of [...]
Is TyrePal suitable for high speed applications?
Yes! Our sensors have been actively tested at speeds up to 300km/hr. TyrePal systems are frequently used for high performance cars such as Ferrari, Porsche and Aston Martin for track and race applications where high speeds are the norm.
Can I get extra sensors for another vehicle?
This depends on the system. You could for TA22 system, if you are prepared to ignore the ‘no-signal’ error message, but generally you can’t for other systems. TD1000, TD1200 and TD2200 are specific systems for four or six wheels and these will only recognise one set of sensors. If you want to use one of [...]
What alarm levels should I set?
Installed the sensors on my Renault Espace this afternoon and went for a 3 mile trip. I set the low tyre pressure a couple of psi below the Renault quoted cold normal figure and the upper a couple of psi above the quoted cold normal figure. As expected the max pressure was exceeded and the [...]
How do the external sensors on the TyrePal system compare with sensors inside the tyre, typically fitted to new cars?
When fitting internal sensors, the tyres have to be removed. For existing vehicles, this takes longer and can increase the cost by 50% or more. Most internal sensors have non-replaceable batteries, so once the battery is dead, the sensor has to be replaced. With TyrePal external sensors, the batteries are easily replaced and are readily [...]
How do I change pressure units from psi to bar
To change pressure from PSI to Bar on TD1000 or TD1200 series Press and hold the mute button for more than five seconds to enter the settings mode. Use the temperature or backlight buttons to scroll through the pressure units psi, Kpa, bar, or Kg/cm2 When the desired pressure units are displayed, press no buttons [...]
What is the weight of the sensors and will the wheels need re-balancing after fitting?
The sensors weigh just 11g complete with batteries. This is within the normal tolerance for wheel balancing, so it is not usually necessary to re-balance the wheels.
Can you supply in my country?
We can currently supply systems to all countries except North America. Please contact us if you are in the USA and would like to order a system.
How can I get the best accuracy from the system?
Display and alarm resolution for TD1000 is 0.5psi and sensors are guaranteed accurate to +-1psi This is appropriate for general road use and is well within the range specified in ISO21750, which is the international standard for safety warnings to be provided by Tyre Pressure Monitoring Systems. To get the best possible accuracy from the [...]
Can I get a system with an extra set of sensors
TA22 system TA22 can be configured with any number of sensors from 2 to 22. Sensors can be used for any wheel position and are registered when the system is set up. Extra sensors can be added at any time. TD series Sensors are specific to each wheel and are pre-programmed to be recognised by [...]
